A possible new Grand Theft Auto VI leak is spreading across X and other gaming communities, allegedly offering an early look at a much larger portion of GTA 6’s map. The material being shared online includes what appears to be gameplay footage alongside an image presenting Leonida divided into multiple counties, with Vice-Dale County, Leonard County, Kelly County, Mariana County and Lummox County labeled across the state. However, there is one major warning: Rockstar Games has not authenticated the newly circulated map, and its accuracy remains unconfirmed. For now, it should be treated strictly as an alleged leak rather than an official reveal of GTA 6’s final world.
Alleged GTA 6 Map Leak Begins Circulating Online
The GTA 6 community has another potentially significant leak to investigate.
Images currently circulating on X claim to reveal a large-scale map of Leonida, the fictional state inspired by Florida that serves as the setting for Grand Theft Auto VI. Discussion of the same material has quickly spread to GTA communities elsewhere online, where users are debating whether the files are genuine, fabricated or potentially taken from an older development build.
The map shown in the circulating image is particularly interesting because it goes considerably beyond Vice City.
Instead, it presents a large landmass divided into multiple regions, with Vice-Dale County occupying the southeastern portion and several additional counties extending north and west.
The center of the map is labeled LEONIDA, suggesting the image is attempting to represent a broad overview of the state rather than simply Vice City and its immediate surroundings.
Five Counties Appear on the Alleged Map
The image circulating online contains five clearly labeled county names:
- Vice-Dale County
- Leonard County
- Kelly County
- Mariana County
- Lummox County
Vice-Dale, Leonard and Kelly are especially notable because those names aren’t appearing in GTA 6 discussions for the first time. County names have previously been identified through material associated with the game, and mapping communities have spent years reconstructing Leonida using trailers, screenshots and information originating from the massive 2022 development leak.
The alleged map places Vice-Dale County on the southeast coast, containing what appears to be the game’s largest and densest metropolitan area. That would naturally correspond with Vice City.
Leonard County appears farther north, while Kelly County occupies a substantial western region. Mariana County covers much of the southwest, including an extensive chain of islands, while Lummox County appears at the northern end of the map.
But the presence of familiar terminology does not prove that the image itself is authentic.
The Alleged Map Shows a Much Larger Leonida Beyond Vice City
If the image is legitimate, one of its most important implications would be the scale and geographic diversity of GTA 6.
The southeastern portion contains a dense urban environment surrounded by waterways and coastal development. Moving west dramatically reduces the apparent road density, transitioning into large expanses of wilderness, wetlands and smaller settlements.
Farther south, the mainland narrows before extending into a long island chain reminiscent of the Florida Keys.
That general concept is consistent with what Rockstar has officially established about GTA 6’s world: players aren’t limited to Vice City. Leonida includes multiple environments beyond the metropolitan area, while existing analysis of official footage has identified locations inspired by Florida’s wetlands, coastal communities and smaller towns.
What remains unknown is whether the exact geography shown in this particular image represents Rockstar’s actual map.
Circulating Gameplay Footage Adds More Questions
Alongside the map, a roughly 70-second video is also being circulated.
The footage supplied alongside the alleged leak shows a third-person character moving through an outdoor residential environment. A watermark promoting Cyberleek is prominently displayed over the footage.
This is important because current online discussions are connecting the map material with Cyberleek, and multiple posts claim the material originates from the same source associated with other purported GTA 6 development footage.
That connection is driving much of the current speculation surrounding the map.
It still isn’t sufficient to independently establish authenticity. A source distributing authentic material could distribute fabricated material later, while genuine development footage can also be combined with fan-created maps or edited assets.
Each piece therefore needs to be evaluated independently.
Some Fans Believe It Could Represent an Older GTA 6 Build
There is another possibility being raised throughout community discussions: even if parts of the leak are genuine, they may not represent the current version of GTA 6.
Some users have pointed to apparent differences between the leaked image and locations identified through Rockstar’s more recent promotional material. Others argue that the road network looks unusually sparse in certain areas or that important locations appear absent.
That could potentially be explained by an early development map showing only major roads, an unfinished internal overview, or regions that were subsequently redesigned.
Large open-world games change substantially during development, and GTA 6 has been in production for years.
Therefore, there are really two separate questions surrounding this leak: is the material authentic, and if it is authentic, how old is it?
Those questions currently have no definitive public answer.
How Does It Compare With Existing GTA 6 Mapping Projects?
Fans have already created extremely detailed reconstructions of GTA 6’s world without possessing Rockstar’s final map.
Those projects use recognizable landmarks, camera positions, road layouts, coordinates associated with leaked development footage and locations visible throughout Rockstar’s official promotional material to estimate where different areas exist relative to each other.
The result is already a surprisingly detailed approximation of Leonida, but even the most sophisticated versions remain community reconstructions rather than Rockstar’s official map. GamesRadar notes that the complete official GTA 6 map still hasn’t been publicly released, while existing community maps are assembled through trailers, screenshots and other available evidence.
That distinction becomes particularly important with the latest alleged leak.
Similarities between this image and existing community maps could mean the leak reflects genuine Rockstar geography. But they could equally mean someone used those community projects as the foundation for creating a convincing fake.
Rockstar Has Not Revealed GTA 6’s Complete Map
Despite the enormous amount of information now available about Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar has still not published a conventional full-world map showing every road, city and region.
What has been established is that GTA 6 takes place in Leonida, with Vice City serving as its most recognizable urban center and additional environments expanding beyond it.
This means any image currently claiming to show the entire map deserves additional scrutiny unless it can be traced directly to Rockstar Games.
The image circulating on X does not currently meet that standard.
Is the New GTA 6 Map Leak Real?
At this stage, there isn’t enough independently verified evidence to call the map genuine.
The material is genuinely circulating online, and active discussions posted on August 18 are connecting it to Cyberleek and other alleged gameplay material.
But circulation is not authentication.
Rockstar Games has not confirmed the map, and no publicly available evidence currently establishes that the image represents the final GTA 6 world.
The safest interpretation is therefore that this is a possible GTA 6 map leak undergoing community verification.
If authentic, it could provide one of the clearest indications yet of how Rockstar has structured Leonida beyond Vice City. If fabricated, it would join a long history of convincing GTA map hoaxes, including previous alleged GTA 6 maps that were eventually proven fake.
Until stronger evidence emerges, every specific detail from the image should remain classified as unconfirmed.
