Alleged GTA 6 Gameplay Videos Leak Online as Group Threatens to Release More Footage

A new batch of alleged GTA 6 gameplay footage began circulating online on August 18, potentially giving fans another unauthorized look at Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated open-world game. At least two videos attributed to the leak are being widely discussed, with one reportedly showing Jason driving through Leonida before getting into a confrontation with an NPC and attracting police attention, while another shows the protagonist inside a residence and playing basketball. The group claiming responsibility, Cyberleek, has also suggested that additional material could be released as part of a protest against what it describes as anti-consumer practices in the gaming industry. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not publicly authenticated the newly circulated footage at the time of writing.

New Alleged GTA 6 Gameplay Videos Are Circulating Online

GTA 6 is once again at the center of an apparent leak, with multiple pieces of purported development footage spreading across social media.

Unlike Rockstar’s polished promotional trailers, the newly circulated videos appear to show GTA 6 during development. The footage looks unfinished and contains elements that could have changed significantly before the version players will eventually experience.

Community discussions currently point to at least two notable gameplay clips.

One reportedly follows Jason driving through the game’s world before leaving his vehicle and becoming involved in a confrontation with an NPC. Community descriptions of the footage say Jason attacks the NPC with what appears to be a pipe wrench before subsequently dealing with police attention.

The footage has also prompted discussion around several interface and gameplay elements visible during the sequence, but because Rockstar has not authenticated the material, drawing conclusions about GTA 6’s final mechanics based on an apparent development build would be premature.

Another Video Apparently Shows Jason Playing Basketball

The second clip takes place in a considerably different environment.

Instead of driving through Leonida or dealing with police, Jason is reportedly shown walking around a residence before playing basketball.

Community descriptions put this particular sequence at approximately one minute long.

The apparent basketball interaction has naturally attracted attention because Rockstar hasn’t officially detailed whether basketball will function as a full recreational activity in GTA 6.

However, even if the footage is ultimately authenticated, development material doesn’t guarantee that every mechanic shown will exist unchanged in the finished game. Features can be modified or completely removed during production.

For that reason, the clips should not currently be treated as confirmation of specific gameplay features.

Cyberleek Claims Responsibility for the GTA 6 Material

A group calling itself Cyberleek has claimed responsibility for releasing the material and published a manifesto explaining its stated motivation.

According to the statement attributed to Cyberleek, the group considers several practices within the modern video game industry anti-consumer.

Its complaints include digital pre-orders, publishers selling access to single-player content it believes is already contained within purchased game files, and games with single-player components becoming inaccessible after online services are discontinued.

The group describes its actions as “fighting for gamers’ rights” and claims publishers violating its demands could become targets.

Those statements represent Cyberleek’s own justification for its actions and shouldn’t be interpreted as independently verified claims about publishers or their business practices.

GTA 6’s Physical Release Appears to Be a Major Point of Contention

GTA 6 itself has become particularly relevant to Cyberleek’s stated position because of Rockstar’s approach to physical copies.

Recent information surrounding GTA 6 pre-orders indicates that physical editions are being sold through selected retailers, but the box contains a download code rather than a game disc.

That directly conflicts with Cyberleek’s stated position that physical pre-orders should represent genuinely tangible media.

In its manifesto, the group argues that if publishers want revenue from consumers before release, they should manufacture discs and put physical copies on store shelves rather than relying on digital distribution.

This appears to be an important part of why Rockstar has become a target of the group’s campaign, although Cyberleek’s manifesto frames the dispute as part of a broader campaign against industry practices rather than a complaint exclusively about GTA 6.

Cyberleek Says the Leaks May Continue

The situation might not end with the footage currently circulating.

Cyberleek claims it intends to continue its campaign until targeted publishers respond publicly and make concrete changes. The manifesto specifically states that the group wants public statements and apologies rather than private resolutions.

That has fueled speculation that additional GTA 6 material could potentially be released.

How much unreleased material the group actually possesses remains unknown, however.

Claims that additional videos exist should therefore be treated cautiously. Possessing or releasing one piece of material doesn’t independently establish that the group has access to everything else it claims to possess.

Are the Leaked GTA 6 Videos From 2024?

Another major question concerns how old the apparent gameplay actually is.

Community members have attempted to analyze the files and determine when they could have originated. One metadata analysis circulating today found that the redistributed videos were encoded using a version of FFmpeg that establishes November 2023 as the earliest possible date for that particular encoding process.

However, this does not prove the gameplay was recorded in November 2023 or in 2024.

The videos appear to have gone through an additional editing or encoding process before being distributed, including the addition of Cyberleek promotional overlays. That process means metadata from the original gameplay capture may no longer be present.

Consequently, claims circulating online that the footage comes specifically from a 2024 GTA 6 build remain unverified.

The videos could potentially originate from that period, but currently available metadata isn’t enough to establish that conclusively.

The Footage Appears to Show an Earlier GTA 6 Build

Regardless of its precise date, the purported footage looks noticeably different from Rockstar’s polished GTA 6 promotional material.

That wouldn’t necessarily be surprising if the clips are genuine.

Development builds frequently contain unfinished interfaces, animations, graphical elements and mechanics. Something visible during internal development might look completely different months or years later.

This distinction becomes particularly important with GTA 6 because the game has undergone years of development.

Rockstar has already demonstrated significantly polished versions of Jason, Lucia, Vice City and the wider state of Leonida through its official promotional campaign. GTA 6 is currently scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The newly circulated footage therefore shouldn’t be considered representative of the game’s current visual quality even if its authenticity is eventually established.

Rockstar Has Not Confirmed the New GTA 6 Leak

There is also an important difference between this situation and GTA 6’s infamous 2022 leak.

After the enormous September 2022 security breach, Rockstar eventually acknowledged that an unauthorized third party had accessed its systems and downloaded confidential information, including early GTA 6 development footage.

No equivalent confirmation has been issued for the material circulating today at the time of writing.

That means the safest description remains alleged GTA 6 gameplay footage.

The videos are circulating. Cyberleek is claiming responsibility. People are actively analyzing the material. But none of those things alone provide official authentication from Rockstar Games.

More GTA 6 Footage Could Be Coming

For GTA fans, perhaps the biggest unanswered question isn’t what the existing videos show, but what could come next.

Cyberleek’s statements indicate that its campaign isn’t intended to end with the material already released. The group claims it will continue targeting publishers that violate the principles outlined in its manifesto.

Whether that actually means more GTA 6 gameplay will appear remains unknown.

With Rockstar preparing for GTA 6’s November launch and official promotional activity increasing, another significant unauthorized release would inevitably attract enormous attention.

Until then, the newly circulated videos should be treated for what they currently are: unverified development footage claimed to originate from GTA 6, released by a group using the material to promote a wider protest against practices it considers anti-consumer.
